Band Of The Week – Shit Present

This band is a perfect example of eclectic punk, which is angsty, interesting, and fun. Although this punk four piece steers away from strictly political songs, their use of social media to advocate equality is truly admirable.

The band’s debut self-titled ep offered a combination of emo-revival and punk, with highlights being the angsty, pop driven, anthemic sounding ‘anxious type’ and the mellow echoes of ‘Melbourne.’ The ep showcases the band’s vocal talents and simplistic yet creative song writing process. Shit Present produce songs that sound like movies. Their second ep ‘Misery + Disaster’ has a similar sound to their first ep, which establishes their sound effectively. This band has a lot of potential, and isn’t afraid of honest, vulnerable storytelling. It is easy to get lost in their records, I find, myself listening to their self-titled front to back a lot recently, finding myself lost in the true beauty of honesty that they expose.
